Using technology during my college career I feel is significant to my success while perusing my career in the Education field. I am constantly using different types of technology while in the observation field for my career and while I am in actual classes. Learning to use different technologies to enable my students to learn, has been a learning experience for me as their teacher. Growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s technology was evolving but not much technology was used in the different subjects of my elementary school. Using the occasional computer was really the only advancement I used growing up in school, so learning to teach in this modern era has been very challenging for me.
However, in my education classes I have taken I have learned to use technology such as blogs and social media in order to better my education. I have also utilized applications on my phone and different software’s such as Microsoft Power Point and Excel to better my work and learning abilities. In the classroom during my field experiences I have learned to utilize technology to my advantage because young children are so advanced in using it in their everyday lives already. I use different technologies in my lessons to implement differentiation in my lessons for the students that are more advanced in their technology capabilities. Using applications such as Pearsons computer software on the SmartBoard enables me to work with my students on different concepts such as Math and Reading. Using this technology helps me create fun and interesting lessons instead of just book work. Creating fun and inviting environments with technology allows the students to become involved in the learning and learning becomes fun to them.
I have learned with myself I had rather use technology to type a paper or to create something rather than the old fashion way because it is easier. Using technology is an everyday occurrence for me now I am a full time commuting student. However, In the area that I live we are not able to obtain high-speed internet so, at times I find it frustrating with our satellite internet to use it all the time for learning techniques some of my collogues find easy. I am sure once we ae able to get high speed internet in my area if I am still taking classes I will find these few aggravating effects of using the internet to disappear and I will be able to use technology more. Technology is the future of the kids I will be teaching one day and I feel as though I will find technology to be part of my everyday use when I become a full time teacher. I believe that technology is a good vehicle to use in the education of our children if used in moderation but children have to have some time away from technology. Learning has defiantly changed since I was in school and I learned the material the students today are learning but I find it as we must embrace this technology change for the better.
